Duarte Garrido commands the military forces in New Nazareth, the smallest main city in Zion. However, being close to the mines, it has strategic importance.

Duarte came to deKamp with his mother 25 years ago, with the cult she had joined 10 years before that. He was 18 when they arrived in Zion in 2069. Soon thereafter, he joined the army. Duarte is now 43.
