Episode 1 – New Year’s Eve 2069

A group of wanna-be teenage edgerunners meet at a local strip club on New Year’s Eve to officially bind themselves together to face the dystopian nightmare that America has become.  Their plans and skills are tested as they almost become victims of a massed attack against others.  Blood is spilt, but they come through it alive, but not unscathed.

Background

Most of the world has gone to shit.  It hasn’t died in a nuclear conflagration although a few bombs did go off in the Middle East.  Global warming has finally melted most of the ice caps and many of the major coastal cities of the world have had to build dikes or move inland.  The Wasting Plague has devastated the world population.  A cure was finally produced, but billions died before it could be implemented.  Western Europe has risen from the ashes and is once again the shining beacon of civilization, but it is drunk with its own power.  Instead of helping raise the rest of the world out of darkness, it has used its power to maintain its hold over the economy of the world.  China and Japan have recovered to a great degree and stand opposed to any European hegemony.  The United States has not fared well.  Their constant warfare of the late twentieth and early twenty-first century strained their economy to the breaking point.  When international financiers discovered that United States was manipulating international currencies to prop up their bloated debt ridden economy, the world responded with a global embargo which collapsed the American economy.  This occurred just as the Wasting Plague hit and led to almost complete societal disintegration.  The government was powerless to stop it, so the United States military stepped in.  It took almost a decade, but the country was put back together, more or less.  The country is still fractured, but slowly recovering, although there are wide areas of lawless land from “sea to polluted sea”.

On the central coast of California (now divided into two states) a new corporate city founded by billionaire, Richard Night arose.  Named Night City it was supposed to be a symbol of a resurgent America.  In a sense it is.  A glittering wealthy corporate center surrounded by neighborhoods of urban poor with not even the bare necessities.  There are semi-wealth corporate suburbs with varying levels of walls and armed security.

In the heart of the South Night City combat zone is a small island of relative calm around the 88th Street NCART station.  There a group of young people have decided to band together to seize their piece of what’s left of the American Dream.  Live or die, they will now live on the Edge!

Dramatis Personae

Harlon Nayl: A 19 year old solo who received some training as a sniper by his ex-Army father, who joined the NCPD in 2053 and was assigned to the 88th Street police precinct.  The old man has risen in the ranks to lieutenant in charge of the third watch.  Harlon’s relationship with his father is strained, but the two do love each other.

Jake Kitagawa: A 17 year old “Hafu” (half Japanese, half Anglo) solo whose face was disfigured by a knife as punishment by the Yakuza for his dead father’s mistakes.  Jake has returned to the old neighborhood and does a poor business as a bodyguard and muscle.

Mitzi Blaize: A 17 year old “prowler” who has grown up mostly in this 88th Street neighborhood.  Her father, a member of an “End of the World” cult murdered his entire family and then killed himself.  He failed in one respect; Mitzi didn’t die.  She recovered and her record of academic achievement caught the notice of Father Joe at St. Mary’s High School.  She was sent there, but she has devoted her clever mind and dexterous skills to more larcenous exploits.  She generally hunts the center city area for marks with her prodigious pickpocketing skills.

Suki Barnes: An 18 year old NET Runner and former corp kid from Pacifica after a few mysterious deaths Arasaka tossed the mother and daughter out of corporate housing and the two settled in the 88th Street neighborhood.  Her mother entered downward spiral into alcohol and drugs, finally dying of an overdose. In her senior year at St. Mary’s High School disaster struck after she claimed two boys at the school assaulted her, so she stabbed them both.  Suki was expelled and now makes a living dancing at the Temptation Social Club, the local strip joint, and selling streams of data that she finds on the NET.

Vitale “Vito” Agosti:  A 19 year old Medtech who was trained by his late father, a doctor for the Baronti Family, the local Mafia branch.  Vito is a high functioning autistic with Asperger’s Syndrome and soaked up this training like a sponge.  The young man has earned his certificate as a physician’s assistant and works at the local clinic/hospital.    Vito and his mother live with Vito’s older sister, who is the hostess at Luigi’s Italian Restaurant next door.  Both locations are owned by the Baronti Crime Family.  The mob takes care of its own.

The NPCs

Angelo Benedetti:  A moderately important member of the Thunder Gods MC and a cousin of Vito Agosti.

Doc Tony:  A disgraced cyber-surgeon who runs a black cyber clinic in the back of Good Health Medical Supply Store.

Claire:  One of the waitresses at the club and is a black female, long black hair and brown eyes, 5’6″ with big hips, ATT 7 and 26 years old. She’s a single mother of two boys, and she worries about them constantly.

Gable: He is the second of the two bouncers at the club and is a white male, bald head and blue eyes, 6’3″ and muscular. ATT 4, 27 years old. The man dresses in a blue suit, an aqua-colored bow tie, and black gloves.

Hank Hyde:  He is a local street racer and Suki’s ex-boyfriend.  They broke up suddenly last year, but no one knows why.

Jack Reynolds: The owner/operator of the Need A Place Real Estate agency and a regular at the Temptation Social Club.  He has the hots for Suki.

Lieutenant James Nayl: Harlon’s father and commander of the third watch at the 88th Street Precinct.  He is concerned about the direction of his son’s life.

Kicker: The owner of the Temptation Social Club and a 38 year old black male with a big black afro and brown eyes, 5’9″ and chunky.  He is a veteran of America’s old “War on Terror”, who uses the club as a front for his own criminal activities. He is not a very nice man if crossed.

Kaylynn: She is Japanese female stripper with long black hair highlighted with blue accents, green eyes, 5’4″ tall and thin; ATT 8 and aged 18.

The Action

Monday, December 31, 2068:

A wanna-be group of teens consisting of Harlon Nayl, Jake Kitagawa, Mitzi Blaize and Vitale “Vito” Agosti have gathered at the Temptation Social Club (actually a strip joint) to recruit a high school friend, Suki Barnes, a stripper there, as their NET Runner for an Edgerunner group that they wish to put together.  Although this club is in the combat zone, the Thunder Gods, the local MC, likes the place and it is rumored that the owner, “Kicker”, is involved in some of the club’s numerous illegal activities.  This makes the place somewhat safer than most considering where it is located.  The Team of wanna-bees enters and is escorted by Claire, one of the waitresses, to a table at the back of the club near the stage and the door to the “champagne rooms”.  Suki is expecting them and has arranged some good seats.  As it is New Year’s Eve, the club is packed and there are actually 6 members of the MC there including Vito’s cousin Angelo Benedetti.  Claire gets them their drinks and they proceed to sip them slowly as they are all mostly broke.  Within the first hour Claire reappears with another round of drinks and points to the table where members of the MC are sitting.  Angelo waves to his cousin, Vito, who also recognizes two of the other MC members he stitched up after a gunfight about a month ago.  Of course the hospital report read that these injuries were from dumping their bikes.  Mitzi smiles at one of the bikers which brings him right over to the table.  She fends him off politely.

Suki comes on and does her first turn on the stage.  She oozes sexuality as she slithers across the boards and the customers throw their hard earned (or stolen) cash at her.  The girl permits the customers sweaty hands to grope her body as long as they are filled with euro bills.  As the evening progresses more and more people arrive.  At about quarter to ten the Team notices a small disturbance at the curtain leading to the outer lobby.  A group of seven heavily armed NCPD officers enters.  Harlon slinks down in his seat as he sees his father.  The police aren’t interested in him as a couple place themselves in strategic positions around the room and the others head towards the back office to talk to Kicker.  As they chat, Suki comes out from backstage and heads towards the Team’s table.  She stops half-way across the room at another table and smiles.  One of the people there stands.  It is her ex-boyfriend Hank Hyde, who smacks her right across the face.  Before anyone can react, Curry, one of the bouncers appears and round house kicks Hank right down and out.  Two of the cops are immediately there and take the young street racer out of the club.  The dancer continues over to the table fretting that her face might be marked.  It isn’t; any more than the slight imperfects that have appeared over the past couple of years.  The Team is beginning to suspect where they came from.

Harlon’s father and Kicker finish their discussion.  Instead of leaving Kicker points out the Team’s table to the lieutenant, who heads over.  The watch commander walks up and scans the group, “You all gonna be good tonight, right?”

The assembled teenagers mumble the affirmative.  He gives his son a smile and a nod.  As he turns to leave he says to Suki, half in jest, “And try not to stab anyone tonight.”

She smiles her best “come hither” smile and replies, “I’ll try.”

The lieutenant stops up at the bar for a minute, talks to one of the bartenders and leaves.  Meanwhile Claire brings Suki a drink and points to a greasy old man at the bar who waves.  The stripper smiles and gives a little wave back while saying under her breath, “Not even for a thousand euro.”

The group then gets down to business and explains their need for a NET Runner to be on their new team.  All of them have spoken from time to time about the need to do something radical to get out of the hell hole that is the 88th Street neighborhood, but now this is appearing to be a reality.  Harlon puts it succinctly, “We want to know if you want to join our little team of misfits?”

Of course she is interested.  They get down to the details.  Basically, they will split any profits evenly and watch each other’s backs.  It is suggested that they try to get a house together, for safety.  Doing the kind of work that edgerunners do makes a lot of enemies.  They don’t want to get picked off one by one.  The group decides to look into that.  Those that live in the combat zone want to get to a safer place or at least not be alone.  They are tired of being broken into.  A few of those living with their parents just want to move out.

Mitzi asks, “Is your ex-boyfriend going to be a problem?”

Suki starts making excuses for him and says no, but others aren’t so sure.  In the end they all agree to bind themselves together for their mutual safety, protection and fortune.  The NET Runner excuses herself as she has to get ready for her next dance. The Team’s drinks are getting low, but soon Claire reappears with another round.  She tells them, “These are from Lieutenant Nayl.”

Suki comes on stage for the second time about 11 pm and again collects a small boatload of cash.  She has a beautiful body and works it for all she can get.  About ten minutes before midnight, the dancer comes back to the Team’s table wearing a mix of her stripper costume and some civilian clothes.  She is now off and has a huge wad of cash in her bag.  The Team’s new NET Runner buys the group another round (with a big tip for Claire) in anticipation of mid-night.

Tuesday, January 1, 2069:

Mid-night arrives with Kaylynn on the stage and a wild celebration breaks out.  Since the Team is seated at a large table diagonally across the length of the main room, they don’t see the disturbance at the curtain covering the front lobby.  They do hear the screams and the roar of an auto shotgun as 00 buckshot tears into the crowd, followed by a fusillade of gunfire ending with a blast from some kind of large weapon.  Kaylynn, who is onstage, cries out as an arrow goes into her torso and pokes out her back.  She hits the stage.  Harlon, Jake and Mitzi grab the heavy table and flip it over to provide cover from any fire from the entrance area.  The six members of the Thunder Gods are doing the same.  From the curtained front a mob of what looks like scruffy bikers, but not wearing any specific colors are pouring in shouting, “Happy New Year’s, mutherfuckers!”

Gable, the other bouncer is near the Team by the door leading to the champagne rooms.  He pulls his nine millimeter from his ankle holster and finds cover at the edge of the bar.  The DJ and both bartenders hit the floor.  Suki, who was on the outside of the table, leaps behind it and the meat shield forming up of Harlon, Jake and Vito to where Mitzi has also positioned herself.  Everyone is pulling out their pistols.  The attackers are moving through the crowd with clubs, chainsaws, a katana, pistols and a few automatic weapons.  These last guns are concentrating on the members of the Thunder Gods.  At this point fire from the Team is fairly ineffectual as they are at medium range.  Curry steps out of the door leading to the front office and catches one of the assault rifle wielding attackers reloading.  The bouncer pulls the triggers of his double barreled sawed off shotgun and blows his target off his feet and into the afterlife.  By now, the DJ and both bartenders are up and firing with their handguns.  The place is being bathed in blood!

The wave of attackers continues to move relentlessly across the floor killing or maiming all they can.  Many have fled to the two rear security doors, but they are locked, trapping everyone.  Jake’s .454 Super Chief is attracting some notice, but so far he hasn’t connected with a shot.

All this changes as the attackers move into close range, the Super Chief blow a leg clean off.  Harlon’s 12mm takes another’s arm off still gripping a nunchaku.  Mitzi brain buckets a target with one shot.  By now Curry has ducked back through the front office door and two attackers finally force it.  Two more shotgun blasts are heard as those two enter.

By now the Team attracts some serious fire.  One of the attackers levels a huge rifle at the Team and pulls the trigger.  The Nomad Long Rifle spits out its 15mm BMG round and slams through the heavy metal table into Jake’s lower torso.  It knocks the solo back and unconscious (failed stun save) on top of poor SukiJake makes his death save.

Harlon looks at that rifle and yells, “Put that fucker down, right now!”

The cop’s son fires his Armalite 44 and hits the rifleman’s leg with a dual purpose round.  That blows off that limb and kills the man.

Suki wiggles out from under Jake, pulls out her first aid kit from her bag and stabilizes the Hafu solo.  Vito fires and brain buckets one attacker, but jams his Mustang Arms MK II on the second shot.  The enemy has taken serious casualties by now and one of them in the back shouts, “Back outside!”

The remaining attackers run away taking a few of their wounded with them.  Vito jumps up on the stage and tends to the fallen Kaylynn.  He removes the arrow and binds her wound.  The dancer is in critical condition, but still alive.  Vito then heads over to his cousin, who is down.  He botches the stabilization roll, but it is only a failure.  The medtech continues to work on Angelo and finally succeeds in saving him before moving on to the other wounded members of the MC.  Suki, with Mitzi’s help, aids those who are down.  Jake regains consciousness, but with 15 damage just decides to lie there in pain.  Harlon helps move any weapons away from the downed attackers, but is warned not to take any of them.  He had been looking longingly at the Nomad Long Rifle.

Vito gets a phone call from work (the Kip Avenue Community Health Center) telling him there had been a riot down at the New Year’s Eve celebration at the park.  He tells them about the attack here and is told to deal with the wounded at the club first and then come in.  He will be back on the clock staring now.  The remaining mobile bikers from the MC get a call and they and Kicker head out a door to the back.  Vito tells the Team about the riot at the park.

Now the looting commences.  There is video of the fight and the security people use it to award the corpses to the various people who fought and survived.  The Team gets five of the corpses.  They begin to strip them of weapons, cyberware, cash, equipment and some leather armor.  The armor is mostly just leathers which might be serviceable when stripped of various symbols.  Someone surmises that this is some kind of nomad gang.  They also find a cell phone.  Harlon is pleased as he gets the Nomad Long Rifle.

Vito gets called over as someone finds an organ donor card and asks him to sign off on the body; he does so. Then the medtech calls his mother and sister to see if they are all right as they always attend the New Year’s Eve celebration.  His mother is fine, but his sister took a slight wound from a stray pellet.  Harlon thinks and calls his father.  There is no answer.  He then calls the precinct.  He is told to wait a minute.  A sergeant he knows gets on the line and tells him, “I have some bad news for you, Harlon.  Your father was critically wounded and is at Crisis Medical downtown.”

The sergeant tells the son that they will get a car to pick him up to take him there as soon as they can.  Cab service in the neighborhood has been prohibited.  The nomad gang is still in the area.

The Team overhears Kicker talking to Gable and asking why they didn’t see this attack coming.  Harlon pipes up that the system may have been hacked, but is told no, it is a closed system not connected to the NET.  Harlon suggests this might be an inside job.  This brings Curry right into the solo’s face.  He resents any implication that the club staff could be involved with this attack.  Mitzi asks Suki if she could tell if the computer had been hacked.  Kicker sends his dancer to check.  The NET Runner comes back a few minutes later and says, “Yup, you were hacked!”

Mitzi does have a bit of a local reputation so Kicker allows the prowler to examine his security measures under Gable’s watchful eye.  She finds a radio tap on the line running to the security camera in the alley behind the club.  She disconnects it and hands it to Gable who takes it.  Kicker is grateful to her and Vito for their help.  It is getting very late or early in the morning depending on how you look at it.  Not only have the club and the Park been struck, but the Thunder Gods’ business down the block has been firebombed and their clubhouse, Valhalla, has been attacked.  NCPD SWAT and C-SWAT units are in the area and since cops have been shot and killed, they are not too particular about who they shoot at.  Suki tells everyone that she lives just across the street and offers her place for people to crash.

The Team slides across the road safely and up to her small studio apartment.  Suki gives Jake her bed and then she, Mitzi and Harlon settle down on the floor.  An ambulance from Kip Avenue Community Health Center comes for Vito.

After the sun rises, a police cruiser comes by to pick up Harlon to take him to Crisis Medical.  His father had coded on the flight to the hospital, but was revived.  Lieutenant Nayl is now in intensive care (Mortal 4 [27 lethal, 5 impact]).  The doctors are hopeful and specialists are being consulted.  The son waits at his father’s side.

Around noon Suki and Mitzi help Jake back to his apartment.  Later all are notified that the Thunder Gods MC want to see everyone later in the afternoon at the Temptation Social Club.  Many clean their weapons.  Mitzi realizes she doesn’t know how and must learn how.

Everyone shows back up at the Social Club except for Jake who is recovering from his wounds.  The Warlord of the Thunder Gods MC tells the assembled people who fought with them last night that the group that attacked is called the Desert Snakes, which is a Raffin Shiv group.  The MC says they have had some “disagreements” with them in the past.  Currently the MC, the NCPD and the Baronti Family are furious with this gang of nomads.  They believe that the survivors are still in the city.  They are offering a reward of €500 for each head of the gang turned in.  This group has a tattoo on their necks behind the ear.  He then pulls a head out of a bag and shows them.  Also any information that leads to them will be rewarded.  Suki raises her hand tentatively.  The warlord comes and looms over the dancer.  She looks up at him and says, “Well, we found a phone on one of the gang.  It was locked so I spent some time hacking into it.  There was only one number that called it, but in the note section I found this.”

Suki opens the phone and shows it to the Warlord.  The man takes the phone, looks at the screen, then closes it before pocketing it and says, “Thanks.”

The members of the MC leave.  Harlon offers to teach Mitzi how to clean her gun, but his tone and attitude are very superior and dismissive.  The two start to argue about his “disrespectful” attitude.  Harlon finally tells her, “Well, do it yourself then; I’ll just go and fuck myself!”

Suki pipes up cheerfully to Mitzi, “I’ll clean it for you, but first I want to watch Harlon fuck himself.”

This breaks up the anger of the moment.

Before the Team leaves the club Kicker comes over and drops €100each on Mitzi and Vito for their services yesterday.  The Team asks Suki what was on the phone that she showed the warlord.  It was an address, but the NET Runner doesn’t remember exactly.  It is on a chip in her cyber deck.  They head across the street to her apartment and she finds it.  The note is an address about a kilometer and a half north of here.  They talk a little about going and dealing with the Desert Snakes themselves, but they decide that would probably get the Team killed.  So the subject turns to getting a house.  Harlon asks Suki if she could go on-line and find one.  She suggests that they just go down to the local real estate office, Need A Place Real Estate.  They specialize in local rentals.  The Team will go tomorrow, after they have Vito sell the “used” cyberware.  Everyone goes home.

Wednesday, January 2, 2069:

Harlon takes the subway to visit his father at Crisis Medical.  The doctors say that the worst is over and the man is recovering well, although he hasn’t regained consciousness.  Still Harlon spends most of the day until mid-afternoon with his dad.  There is an endless parade of officers coming to see their lieutenant and to support his son.  Jake convalesces in his bed and Suki comes to check on him and change his bandages between working on a custom invisibility program and making an appointment at the Need A Place Real Estate.  The dancer also gets a visit from the warlord of the MC.  Mitzi looks at her dwindling cash reserves and hopes that they get a good price for the cyber ware.   Vito goes to his job at the Kip Avenue Community Health Center.  While he is there, he gets a request from a couple of patients to see him.  It is a trio of the Thunder Gods who have some fresh bullet wounds.  The three are in a good mood.  Vito asks, “Nomad hunting?”

They smile and say, “Could be.”

The duty nurse comes in and looks at the scene and asks, “Another small motorcycle accident?”

They all smile and nod.  She writes it up that way.

When he gets off work Vito calls his contact, Doc Tony, who runs a black cyber clinic out of the back of the Good Health Medical Supply Store.  Not surprisingly there is a lot of newly acquired “used” cyber ware.  They only get €1600 which is €320 apiece.

The Team then heads down to the real estate office.  They are led into the office of the owner, Jack Reynolds, who greets Suki effusively.  He gives her a hug and fondles her ass for a little before getting down to business.  Many on the team now recognize him as a regular at the Temptation Social Club.  Suki has already told him that they are looking for a house for their new Team, but they don’t have a lot of money.  Jack Reynolds offers them a deal.  He bought the block of buildings a couple of years back between 86th and 87th Streets bordered by Hampton Avenue and Carlton Avenue.  He is having trouble keeping these houses filled with tenants and free of squatters.  It has been especially bad of late as there have been some shootings on the corner of 87th and Carlton.  Some serious thugs have moved into the house at #166.  The paying tenants at #159 are refusing to give him the rent and threatening to move out of one half of the duplex because the other half has some loud Chromer squatters, who they have caught stealing their electricity.  The paying tenants at the house at #160 are complaining about the noise and threatening to move out.  The duplex at #161 also has squatters in both apartments and are very noisy.  The building at #162 keeps getting broken into and he can’t get it up to even his low standards to rent it out.  One half of the duplex at #163 is unlivable and he thinks the other half is being used as a cheap brothel, which he wouldn’t mind so much if they paid some rent.  Of the 12 one bedroom apartments in #164, four are unlivable; three have tenants that are on a rent strike over stolen utilities probably by the squatters in the other five apartments.  Sort out the utility issues, get the rent from the registered tenants and collect money or evict the 5 groups of squatters.  The deal is this:  Get rid of the troublemakers in building #166 and you can rent that building for ½ price (€900) starting February 1st.  Any time they are there in January will be free.  For each of the other buildings they clean out and rehab (he’ll pay for reasonable supplies), they will get free rent for two months on their house.  Once done they can continue to rent #166 for ½ price for the next year.  The Team may sub-let it if they like.

The Team likes the deal and agrees to do it.  Jack provides them with legal certified eviction notices, but warns them.  He has already sent two people to deal with the thugs in building #166.  The first still has his jaw wired shut.  The second was never seen again.

The Team heads out and walks back to the park.  Once they are in a safer area Suki tells the Team, “Oh, the Warlord came by today and gave me this.”

She pulls out a paper bag.  Inside is €10,000.  “I think they found the Desert Snakes and dealt with them.  Anyway, share and share alike.”

Each of the Team pockets €2,000.  They all head home and plan how to spend their new windfall.

Episode 2 – Are We “Johnny Rehab” Now?

Five desperate teenagers have bonded together to try to survive in this Dark Future.  Through their NET Runner they have come to an agreement with a local real estate operator to clean up a block he owns in the Combat Zone, but at the edge of a moderate zone in exchange for cheap to free housing.  Their first action will be to get rid of some particularly violent squatters.  The Team watches them for a week and learns that they are heavily armed and armored, but also a little arrogant about security.  After some preparation they strike and succeed in killing the eight members of this set of squatters.  What they learn is that this is a drug lab is producing a considerable amount of a dangerous yet valuable product.  This leaves them with a moral quandary.

Monday, January 7, 2069:

Vito works 7am to 3 pm at Kip Ave. Community Health Center.  About 8 o’clock Suki swings by the Community Health Center to ask Vito if he has Harlon’s phone number.  She explains that he left her a note but didn’t give her his number.  Vito says he will tell Harlon and does she have a phone number?  Suki doesn’t.  The dancer suggests that he come out to Patty’s Dance Party (a club).  Vito says he will and try to get Harlon

Mitzi drops by to check on Jake and finds Suki there.  The two girls decide to go to Patty’s Dance Party tonight.  It is supposed to have an open mic/karaoke night.

Lt. James Nayl will be at 7 hit points and sent home to recover.  Harlon calls his dad about when he is coming home.  The door opens and his father walks through the door.

Mitzi pays a visit to Vito and gives him her phone number.

Suki spends 10 hours working on invisibility program.

Vito heads over to Harlon’s house and exchange phone numbers.  They head over to Patty’s Dance Party to meet the girls.  Everyone tries to “doll up” using their Personal Grooming and Wardrobe & Style.  Vito scores well on his Wardrobe & Style.  Suki does up a good Personal Grooming but her mix and match of street and stripper clothes only scores a 12 on Wardrobe and Style.  A couple of guys beat Harlon and Vito to the girl’s table and ask Suki if she is “coming upstairs” tonight.  She seems a bit embarrassed by the question and says, “No, not tonight.”

The guys move on and let Vito and Harlon sit.  The four get down to planning on removing the people in building #166.  Suki suggests they watch the place for a while and that they will need Jake for this.  Suki gives Harlon the Basic Tech +3 chip and Vito installs it.  They decide to check out building #165 as a possible over watch spot.  Mitzi does a decent job at Karaoke.  Suki uses her dance skills to wow the crowd.  It is clear she is a regular here.

Wednesday, January 16, 2069:

Vito works 7am to 3 pm at Kip Ave. Community Health Center and again Mitzi is on surveillance duty during the day.

Jake is completely healed.  Suki goes to work & makes €210 & $90.

Harlon and Vito both are on surveillance duty tonight.  They see a slightly battered panel van pull out of the alley just north of building #166 and start to head down the street towards the hotel.  On that next block an explosion lifts up the front end of the van slightly when it passes in front of The Carlton Avenue Used Furniture and Thrift Shop.  This brings the vehicle to a stop as about a score of armed gangers surround the vehicle and demand they open up.  This is probably the Happy Time ‘dorpher gang.

Harlon and Vito watch as the rear door of the van opens and the sound of an auto-shotgun roars to life.  The attacking gang’s front rank falls.  This is followed by the sound of two SMGs.  A cyborg with two cyberarms and two cyberlegs encased in battered metal gear steps out of the back.  He has a pop-up SMG in each arm.  The Borg demands the gang’s surrender which they do.  The metal man retracts the SMGs to reload and pulls a huge semi-automatic handgun from his cyberleg holster.  He asks who the leader of this attack is, and the Happy Time members “sell out” their Warlord.  The Borg blows the Warlord’s head off.

Harlon and Vito watch as two of the thugs with long guns from building #166 come out from between that building and the three story apartment building next door.  Meanwhile the cyborg has organized his “prisoners” and has them push the now immobile van back to the alley north of building #166 and presumably back into the garage there.  The gangers then flee back out of the alley and scatter like cockroaches into the night.

Thursday, January 17, 2069:

Suki comes to the hotel in the morning to relieve the boys.  Vito works 7am to 3 pm at Kip Ave. Community Health Center, and afterwards goes out and buys a microwaver that will be in next week.  Harlon and Vito come back in the evening for the night shift.  Jake is there and Suki calls Mitzi (with her phone home program) to come for a strategy meeting.  Suki opens with her NET report.  She has entered the system at the house a few times now and her invisibility has held when their NET Runner was there.  She has seen eight different people.  Besides the cyborg, there are two more heavily cybered individuals.  The northwest and southeast corners of building #166 have double cameras which cover the complete outside of the building.  There are also single cameras covering the side door, front door and garage interior.  There is another 3600 camera in the first floor hall that also watches the front and side doors.  The house has two floors and a basement.  Suki produces an old floorplan for the building.

The Team sits down to come up with a plan.  Harlon (correctly) insists that they have to drop the Borg first or they will be slaughtered.  He is also concerned about not having enough 15mm ammunition and will not be easy to get up to the steeple.  Suki jumps up and says she has something for him.  She climbs up, sits in Harlon’s lap and attaches a set of trodes to the solo’s head.  This makes Harlon a little uncomfortable as he is now inches from her breasts.  He likes women, but this girl does have a reputation for stabbing people.  Suki seems to enjoy his discomfort.  Finally she activates her deck and the two have their consciousness dropped into her deck.  There she pulls up the file on the Nomad Long Rifle and plays it for Harlon.  He now understands how to care and breakdown the weapon to be able to move it discreetly.  They return to planning.

There is a closed strip mall diagonally across the street from the target house.  Mitzi will use her Glock 17 to fire at the front door.  There is a closed church about 200 meters north of the target house where Harlon will wait with his Nomad Long Rifle and Winchester M-70.  It will be his job to take out the cyborg.  Vito, Jake and Suki will wait in the small three story apartment building in the abandoned first floor apartment next to the target house.  There is also evidence that this place had a few hand grenades thrown inside recently.  Vito and Jake will ambush anyone coming out the side or back doors while Suki watches through their security system.  Once their NET Runner appears, Suki will rejoin Vito and Jake with her H&K MPK-9.  Hopefully the thugs will think it is more trouble from the Happy Time.  It isn’t the greatest plan, but it might work!  Harlon makes a practice run to get to church steeple.

Saturday, January 19, 2069:

Early in the morning Team attempts to take out Thugs from building #166.  Everyone gets into position.  Mitzi is across the street in the closed strip mall and opens fire on the front door of building #166.  It takes another set of shots to get someone to come outside, but it is not the cyborg.  Mitzi fires on the target again, but misses wildly.  Her target knows where she is and starts to close rapidly.  Again Mitzi fires, but misses.  Her target returns fire with a shotgun, but nighttime, distance and movement deny him a hit.  Over the phone Harlon hears Vito repeat Suki’s warning that the target Borg is coming out with a friend. Mitzi glances around for a hiding place in the closed storefront.  Still, she fires at her closing enemy and finally hits!  The damage isn’t great, but it is enough to call for a stun save, which he fails.  Mitzi starts to pick up her shell casings.

Suki gets on her Phone Home and tells the group that two are coming out the side door.  Jake and Vito take up ambush positions in the alley.  “Borg Boy” comes out the front door, but stays near the door.  Harlon puts a 15mm round into the cyborg’s head and drops him.  Jake tells Vito, “Now.”

In the surprise round in the alley Jake turns around the corner and shoots both his .454 Super Chiefs into the back of one of the thugs.  One shot shreds the left cyberarm and the second explodes his head.  Vito takes cover and aims at the remaining thug.  The second thug at the front door closes it after he sees the cyborg’s head explode.

Back in the alley Jake again fires both .454’s but misses.  Vito puts three rounds into the solo’s missed target and wounds him slightly.  The alley thug fires his Scorpion SMG, but the weapon jams.  Jake closes, fires on the remaining thug in the alley, but misses.  Vito also closes but he puts two rounds in the thug’s skull killing him.  Harlon switches to his Winchester M-70.

Jake enters building #166 by the now open back door and closes to the main hall where he spies the back of the thug watching the front door.  He fires both his handguns and kills the man.  Suki comes out of the apartment building with her SMG and shouts to Vito, “They have control of the cameras back.”

Vito looks up at the camera over the back door and shoots it out before heading inside.

Harlon sees the man in the street that was down is getting up.  He fires and hits doing a little damage.  The man now knows where the fire is generally coming from so he sprints to cover away from the steeple.  Mitzi sees the man get up so she fires again hitting him twice for little damage.  This man has his eyes on Mitzi now, or at least her shadow.

Inside the building Jake checks the first room to his left down the main hall and finds the head security man at the ready with his H&K MP-5.  Jake takes a blast from the SMG, but his new armor turns all but two points to the head.  The solo’s .454’s are now empty, so he steps back and tosses a grenade into the room where the enemy gunner is.  The blast kills Jake’s target and destroys all of that group’s security equipment.

Outside the thug in the street makes it into the abandoned storefront where Mitzi is hiding and the two begin a game of “hide and seek”.   It is a quiet hunt for both, but the prowler finally gets a good shot and with her last two rounds kills her hunter.  This is good as the killing round was announced by the Glock’s slide locking back empty.

Inside Jake reloads as Vito comes up to support him and watch his back.  Suki comes inside and takes up position in the front hallway.  Two more people come barreling down the stairs.  Jake kills the first of the two with a well-placed shot.  The last thug tries to flee upstairs.  Vito fires three rounds but misses.  Suki fires full auto with her H&K MPK-9 and ten of her twenty-five rounds tear into the group’s leader.  He is killed.  The three inside sweep the rest of the house, but all resistance has ended.  Harlon comes down from his perch and rejoins the Team along with Mitzi from across the street.

The Team checks out the house.  There are multiple rooms on each floor, but most are a mess.  Suki sees the room full of exploded security and computer equipment and starts to tear up a bit.  Vito checks out Jake’s head wound, but it is very minor.  A search of the property reveals a good supply of guns and the gang’s cash box which is locked.  They call on Mitzi to pick it and it contains €22,485 & $13,847 and the group’s ledger.  What is more important is that in the basement they discover what this group has been up to.  They have a fully equipped modern drug lab.  Vito recognizes that they are making Blue Glass, a dangerous combat drug. There are already about 457 doses finished and maybe enough materials to make 4500+ more.  This is a major operation.

The Team cleans up the bodies outside of the building and Vito calls an acquaintance, Matt Hobson, also known as “the Ghoul”.  He is a weekend ambulance driver for the Kip Ave. Community Health Center.  The man is a “cyber vulture”, who will clean up the bodies and split the take with you.  Vito and the Ghoul get to down to filling out paperwork for the bodies and stripping them down.  A major discussion develops about what to do with the drugs.  Vito seems interested in selling it all for a small fortune to Doc TonyHarlan is at first enthusiastic about the idea until Mitzi, who is against this idea, says, “Well, as long as it doesn’t get out that a police lieutenant’s son has become a major distributor of Blue Glass.”

This stops Harlon’s thought’s along the lines of selling it.  Suki is clearly not in favor of selling the drugs as her mother died of a drug overdose.  Jake is neutral on the issue.  Finally they decide to call the police and turn in the Blue Glass and its raw chemical components.  The Team takes what weapons and gear they want and hides them.  Suki finds one of the men has a cellular cyberlimb deck which she removes.  The Ghoul has the bodies processed and on their way to the morgue, before they call the police.  Inside of the garage there is the smell of death.  They find a body wrapped in plastic.  It was the last person that Jack Reynolds sent to evict these tenants.

The police arrive an hour later and are at first a little dubious about the Team’s story, but Harlon does have the paperwork from Jack Reynolds authorizing them as his legal agents.  The discovery of the dead body in the garage gives credence to their story.  Harlon’s father shows up briefly, but has to recuse himself from the investigation due to the fact that his son is involved.

The investigation takes several hours.  The precinct captain himself shows up to do a media photo-op.  The Team doesn’t get much press for this, but that might end up being a good thing.  The only power in the building is from a generator in the basement.  There is no running water and only one composting toilet.  Suki calls Jack Reynolds and tells him that building #166 is now secured.  They also need the water and power turned on as quickly as possible.  Jackcomes by and after a small “private” discussion with Suki she convinces him to get right on it.  Jack can get the power on today and the water by Monday.  A bit before noon the police are done and leave the Team to organize their new place.

Jake, Mitzi and Suki pick out rooms as they intend to take up residence immediately.  Harlon and Vito head home by evening.

Episode 3 – Turn Down the Music Please (or else)!

The Team settles into their digs and cleans up the debris of their shootout here.  News of the groups’ formation and action has attracted the attention of an old friend from high school.  The continuing problem with the out of control chromers brings another old friend to the Team’s door.  A quiet week is not what is in store for everyone.  Jack Reynolds, their landlord and current patron calls them with the news that the chromers are throwing another loud and wild party.  The Team arms up and heads over there to “reason” with them.  Of course reason fails and a large number of bullets and a couple of flash-bang grenades are exchanged.  In the end the gangers and their party hardy guests leave; some on their feet and others feet first.

The rest of the week s spent cleaning out their new place and paying visits to the rest of the squatters.  Word travels fast and all the squatters either agree to leave or pay rent starting at the beginning of next month after power and water is restored and repaired.  The Team feels good about their progress this week (as well they should) and decides to go down to the Temptation Social Club that evening to catch Suki’s show.

Richard “Red” Reddington:  This 19 year old was born and bred in the 88th Street neighborhood.  As an only child of a single mother who was not in the best of health quickly gravitated to the streets and mastered the art of the hustle.  He learned his trade dealing with a number of goods, but settled on guns as he made a couple of key contacts that propelled him forward in this business.  His mother passed away last year, but at least she got to see her son graduate from Saint Mary’s High School.

Suki Barnes: An 18 year old NET Runner and former corp kid from Pacifica after a few mysterious deaths Arasaka tossed the mother and daughter out of corporate housing and the two settled in the 88th Street neighborhood.  Her mother entered a downward spiral into alcohol and drugs, finally dying of an overdose. In her senior year at St. Mary’s High School disaster struck after Suki claimed two boys at the school assaulted her, so she stabbed them both.  She was expelled and now makes a living dancing at the Temptation Social Club, the local strip joint, and selling streams of data that she finds on the NET.

Tom Banes:  He is a 19 year old military veteran who was forced out of the service by a corrupt state administration.  The man was born in North Oak and moved to the 88th Street neighborhood when he was eleven.  He met most of the Team when they all attended St. Mary’s High School together.

The NPCs

Jack Reynolds: The owner/operator of the Need A Place Real Estate agency and a regular at the Temptation Social Club.  He has the hots for Suki.

Matt “the Ghoul” Hobson:  He is a weekend ambulance driver for the Kip Ave. Community Health Center.  He is known (by Vito, at first) as a “cyber vulture”, who will clean up the bodies and split the take with you.

The Action

Sunday, January 20, 2069:

By the time the police left the previous Saturday afternoon; the scene is starting to be cleaned up and the power is on by nightfall.  Water will not be available until Monday; and then only the kitchen, 1st floor bathroom, basement and the small 2nd floor bath will have running water without work.  The “previous” tenants were making improvements.

Jake gets upearly in the morning andputs a notice on the building #159 telling the chromers squatting there that they have 48 hours to get out!  As he used to live across the street from these noisy neighbors he still has a “bone to pick” with them for all the lost night’s sleep.

Just a little after noon, Richard “Red” Reddington and Tom Banes run into each other outside of Tom’s mother’s apartment.  They chat for a minute and discover that they are heading to the same place.  Red has been looking for a new place as it is getting harder and harder to find places to stash his “trade goods” (weapons) without getting robbed.  He has heard that a group of his old high school friends have banded together, blasted a group of local “bad asses” yesterday and taken over their victims’ house; all of this with the approval of the building’s legal owner.  “Red” is not one to let an opportunity pass.  The type of work that his friends are engaged in always produces a generous supply of saleable used arms.

Tom, on the other hand, hasn’t had much time to look up old friends since his return from service in the NorCal National Guard.  Yes, his honorable discharge got him an immediate job with the local Mid-City Security Agency, which has been fortunate since his younger sister had been quite ill with cancer.  He moved in with his mother and sister and used his salary to help with the expenses.  Well, the treatments have been successful and his sister is in full remission.  He realizes it is time to move out of mm’s small apartment and find a place of his own.  Also, he doesn’t want his life to be one of a mall cop, which it is now.  His mother’s first cousin (which would be his first cousin once removed) has been having problems with some squatter neighbors.  The cousin has complained to her landlord, who said he had some “specialists” who would be dealing with the problem.  He looked into these specialists and discovered that they were some of his old high school friends who were banding together to form an “Edgerunner Team” and had “acquired” a new house.  He decides to pay them a visit.

The two stick to the safer streets and soon arrive at the door of building #166.  They look to the left side of the front door and there is an impact hit from a large caliber weapon on the wall surrounded by a splatter of congealed brain matter.  When they knock it is answered by a smiling Mitzi.  They do remember her from school.  In fact, in the security office at the Hampton Mall, where Tom works, there is a picture of this girl hanging on the wall with a “be on the lookout” notice.  She isn’t wanted, but the management is aware of her reputation.  The prowler invites them in and leads them to the living room.  There is still a huge bloodstain on the floor of the front hall.  As they walk by the stairs, they see the stairwell is festooned with small caliber bullet holes.

Scanning the scene, Red asks, “Did you guys have a party here yesterday?”

“And you didn’t invite us,” adds Tom.

The three have a laugh and sit down as Suki walks into the room wearing t-shirt and bikini briefs carrying her lunch.  The two visitors remember her from high school.  She is beautiful, but is considered a “bit” unstable.  Harlon and Jake hear people downstairs and come to see who it is.  There are all sorts of weapons laid out on the table.  Red looks at the collection and asks, “How much did they cost you?”

“A few pints,” replies Mitzi.

Jake picks up the borg’s huge semi-automatic handgun.  “I’ll just take this.  I’m going to get a body enhancement tomorrow so I can fire this bad boy.”

Red asks, “Where did you get all of these guns?”

“The previous tenants just left them,” Suki replies happily.

Everyone has a huge laugh.  Jake tells the group, “Oh, by the way I left a 48 hour eviction notice on that duplex at building #159.

Tom recognizes that this is his cousin’s building and these squatters are what he is here to talk about.  The group discusses the situation at the duplex as they examine the weapons before them.  Tom also tells them that he is looking beyond being just a security guard and he would be interested in joining up with their Team as long as what they are doing is legal.  They do assure him that their actions have been legal(ish).  Everyone seems to be good with this.

Suki then turns to Red and asks, “What are you looking for?”

“I don’t know, what are you offering?” he replies.

She smiles and says, “Well, come down to the club every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5 pm to 2 am and see.”

Mitzi pipes in, “Bring your money.”

“And buy drinks,” Harlon adds.

“It’s only €5 to get IN (her emphasis) and €15 on weekends with a two drink minimum,” Suki purrs.

Everyone has a laugh.  Then Red gets to the point, “I hear you have some kind of operation going and I was wondering if you need some more people”

“What can you bring to the table?” Harlon asks.

Everyone just looks at HarlonRed’s occupation as a black market weapons dealer is enough to get him a spot on the Team.  Jake explains the deal.  Any money from work the get as a Team will be divided evenly with a cut going towards a general fund to cover group expenses.  You get to live at the house here for free, but still have to pony up a share for utilities.  You get to keep your day job and that money is all yours.  For now cleaning out the squatters on this block will give us this building free of charge for one year and half price for the next year. We watch each other’s back and everyone prospers.  This is acceptable to all.  They do a tour of the house.  The blasted (former) security room raises their eyebrows a bit.  In the basement they meet Vito who is putting together his new chemistry lab.  There is a grease pit under the garage so they can do more complex auto repairs.  Red is pleased since there is an unused room in the basement to put in the weapons workshop he has desired.  They all quickly agree on this arrangement.  Red, Tom, Suki and Mitzi head out to gather their things and give notice at their old places.  Harlon and Jake do the same afterwards.  Suki locks herself in her room when and spends 4 hours on upgrading her Flatline program before installing a Rifle +2 Chip in her chipware socket.  Tom starts setting up his new bedroom, but Red chooses to put a cot down in his new workshop to remain near his gear.

Monday, January 21, 2069:

Vito works 7am to 3 pm at Kip Ave. Community Health Center.  Jake goes to Jersey Mall and gets a +3 M&BL for €3000.  Red hits the streets to get back at his trade.  Mitzi and Suki go out shopping.  The NET Runner buys a phone (Type II with Voice Mail, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, camera, ECM, Videoscreen & number memory), a Royo Bodyfree Mask w/filter (€650), belt and holster (€60), 2 boxes of 9mm DP (€240) SP10 Generic Jumpsuit (Very Good) €337 and a SP10 baklava (very good), €68 for a total of €1,855.  Mitzi buys two SP10 bandanas.  When the girls return Harlon also goes out to the Cyber Barn at the Jersey Mall and buys level two Kerenzikov with boostmaster.

The city water company arrives and turns on the water.  There are a few small leaks and one major break.  The Team easily fixes the small leaks, but needs pipe to fix the major break, so only one of the upstairs bathrooms (off former master bedroom) still isn’t working.  Now that they have running water, Mitzi begins to seriously clean the place.  Suki goes to work with ATTR 9 courtesy of her new Royo Bodyfree Mask and makes €222 & $156.

Tuesday, January 22, 2069:

Vito works 7am to 3 pm at Kip Ave. Community Health Center.  Red goes out and spends ten hours running down deals in the street.  Jake’s head wound is healed.  Suki goes out and buys smart goggles with AD, LL, TA & Thermo (€1100) before she buys a 4 hour battery for cyberlimb deck (€20) and See Ya & Shield upgrades (€30).  She applies the upgrades to her new programs when she gets home.

In the afternoon the Ghoul swings by the house and to deliver €400 apiece to Harlon, Jake, Vito, Mitzi and Suki for the cyberware stripped from the corpses of the former tenants of building #166.  Mitzi is there and takes the cash which she distributes as the others return home.

Harlon goes out to Hampton Furniture to buy a desk with chair (wood), a dresser (wood), a futon, a gun cage and good pre-pack to last till the end of the month.  These will be delivered on Thursday (except for the food which he brings home).

As afternoon turns to evening, the Team’s phones light up.  It is Jack Reynolds.  He just got a call from Tom’s cousin.  The chromers are at it again and blasting the music of their favorite band, the Steel Maggots.  It is time to act.

The Team arms up.  Vito goes out to find the Ghoul and prepare for the expectant corpses.  Tom calls his cousin and suggests she head over to his mom’s while they “take care” of the problem.  They all head out.  Mitzi, Suki and Tom go down the alley behind the building and gets out the family.  Suki notes that this family has a security camera covering the front yard.  She swings it to make sure that everything that will happen in the front yard will be recorded.  The two girls take up positions inside Tom’s cousin’s unit close to the chromers’ front door.  Tom just steps outside on his cousin’s porch.  Harlon posts himself at the corner of the duplex just out of sight of the door.  Red is with him, and he tries to look in the side windows.  He notices the security camera watching this area, but it doesn’t concern him.  Jake walks up to the chromers’ front door and pounds on it.

After much pounding, the door opens and with that Jake steps back away from that front door.  Red moves from the side of the house and now can see Jake.  About eight pissed off chromers come out the front door.  Some angry words are exchanged, but the leader of the gangers doesn’t make a violent action.  They see Tom in his armored fatigues with his SMG, so they rag on him and pull out their camera phones.  Their leader just laughs at the Team, turns around and heads inside.  One of the gangers is carrying a small caliber pistol which Jake sees.  The solo looks at the ganger and says to him quietly and with a hint of condescension, “Nice little gun, why don’t you just come over here and suck my cock.”

That does it.  The ganger brings up his gun and fires a round at Jake’s amply armed chest saying, “Oh yeah, well fuck you!”

Jake then pulls out his “hand cannons” and returns fire.  He blows the man’s leg clean off and kills him.

(GM Note: The ganger actually missed with his shot, but Jake realizes that the shot was caught on video so he now his legal “fig leaf” to continue the fight.)

Tom pulls out his handgun (with fellow teammates behind in the line of fire he decides not to use his SMG) and puts a bullet into the head of one of the gangers spraying Harlon and Red with blood and brain matter.  Harlon and Red hear a window open on the side of the duplex and a grenade drops out.  The two jump to safety and are unaffected by the flash-bang.  (They were actually just out of range but still a smart move.)  Mitzi and Suki fire on the gangers but miss.  The gangers flee inside and close the door.  Tom heads through his cousin’s house to the alley behind them so none of the gangers escape.  Jake puts his shoulder to the door, but fails to break it down.  Harlon takes his shotgun and blows the hinges off the door frame.  Red pushes the door in and small arms fire comes out from the inside.

Red and Jake toss in their own flash bang grenades.  Jake, Harlon and Red enter.  Most of the partiers are down on the floor.  They are stunned.  The bullets fly.  Mitzi heads out of the cousin’s apartment and heads towards the action.  Suki follows her.  The Team succeeds in gunning down many of the chromers.  The return fire hits Jake to no effect but Harlon is hit by a drugged squirt gun, he is now slightly groggy.  One of the chromers opens up with his H&K MP5.  The Team’s armor turns the few shots that hit.  After a round or two of firing the leader shouts, “Hold them off.”

The man then flees.  He and three others race for the back door and Mitzi chases them, alone unfortunately.  As she enters the hall one of the gangers fires half his clip in his assault rifle at her.  Only one round hits in her chest for one point of impact damage, but she fails her stun save and goes down.  The other three fleeing gangers head out the door where two are immediately shot down by Tom who set an ambush in the alley.  The leader and one other stop and don’t exit the building.  Tom moves to the door and is attacked by the leader with his vampires.  By now the Team has subdued all the other opposition and enters the back hall.  All resistance collapses.

With the fight over, the Team disarms those who have surrendered and give first aid to those wounded who are still alive.  The partiers are given a warning never to return here or they will join the dead on the floor.  The surviving gangers are stripped of their weapons, but nothing else is taken and given the same lecture.  They are all then released.  The fallen chromers are stripped of their guns, gear and cash.  During this the Team has a discussion about the morality and legality of robbing the living and the dead.  They decide that only the dead will be robbed.  Inside the now dead gang leaders pocket they found an envelope marked “for tickets”.  When they divide the cash everyone gets €400 and €200 for Vito.

Vito and the Ghoul show up with a plain van to pick up the corpses for “processing”.  The Team then secures the building and works on a list of what needs to be fixed in this duplex.  They realize they need tools to do the work and decide to ask Jack for a little help on this.  It’s been a good day’s work.

Thursday, January 24, 2069:

Vito works 7am to 3 pm at Kip Ave. Community Health Center and gets a call from the Ammo Bunker that his micro-waver has arrived.  Red is again out on the street moving weapons and Tom is working at the Hampton Mall.

Jack Reynolds calls Team and tells them he is coming over and wants some back up to talk to the people in building #163.  Harlon, Mitzi and Jake go with him.  Suki hears about this but she demurs asking them to tell Jack that she is busy with an important appointment.  She is actually working on hooking up a small vid screen she salvaged to the camera on the front door.  The girl puts another five hours in finishing her Flatline program upgrade and rolls a 22 on a diff 12+ program roll before going out and getting a cellular modem number.

At building #163, Jack, backed up the Team, knocks on the door and introduces himself.  The squatters are visibly nervous.  Jack enters the building, leaving the Team outside, but comes out ten minutes later with a signed lease for the whole building!  Yes, it is a brothel and the people there have done a lot of their own rehabbing.  He tells the Team that he would like them to go a bit easier on the rest of the squatters, but have them all out or paying by February first.  Their patron then leaves.

Harlon suggests then go visit building #161 and finds both halves of the duplex abandoned by squatters.  In fact, they see the last of the squatters fleeing on their approach.  In the late afternoon Suki, Mitzi and Jake go shopping for one week of generic pre-pack.  Harlon remains at home to receive the shipment of his new furniture.

Friday, January 25, 2069:

Vito works 7am to 3 pm at Kip Ave. Community Health Center.  Red heads out and spends seven hours completing his weekly work time.  Tom does his shift at the Hampton Mall.

In the afternoon, Harlon, Mitzi and Jake heads to building #164.  All of the squatters are on the second floor with only one on the third floor.  All but one of the second floor squatters quickly agree to start paying on February first, as does the cantankerous single third floor squatter.  The last second floor holdout has lots of attitude, but agrees to be out by February first.

Suki remains at their house.  She scraps her old deck for parts and installs its 10 MU in the new deck, before going to work.

By late afternoon everyone has returned and gets ready for an evening of partying at the Temptation Social Club.
